Jonathan Toews in the Spring League April 18, 2008!

Tonight the WCHL Spring League featured Chicago Blackhawks and Winnipeg native Jonathan Toews who enjoyed a skate at the Dutton Memorial Arena, while some young players just off the ice took notice of one of the NHL's Top Rookies, the team that was getting ready to play his talented squad, scrambled to find their playbook, but totally enjoyed the experience.

Matching Sweaters - As all managers know, your team must have at least one (1) set of matching sweaters. If you wear red, all players must wear red. Players not wearing matching sweaters will be asked to leave the ice, Final warning.

Sweater Number - No taped on numbers allowed, Final warning.

Helmet Decals - Players that do not have a WCHL helmet decal on display will be asked by the referees to show picture ID, or leave the ice.

Scheduled games - Once the schedule has been posted, unless a team has told us in advance about dates to be avoided, Teams must play or forfeit .

Note in the playoffs, games will be scheduled and it will be up to the teams to be there, or forfeit.

Don't Drink at City Rink!
The WCHL would like to remind all teams that the consumption of alcohol is not permitted at any rink we play in. The importance of this can be summed up in a letter we received this week. PLEASE READ!

BC Ref. Fears for Life - Check out the story at CBC.ca ...more

Home & Away - Teams should note, that even on your regular ice time you may be home or away. We are trying to balance the number of these games.

Please be advised that all players must have permanent #'s on jerseys for playoffs!! All referees will be instructed to ensure no player is allowed on the ice with no # or a taped on #. There are only 2 exceptions: 1) If the home team Must change jerseys due to color conflict 2) If a # has become unattached, player must provide # on ice prior to game. NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS Permitted

We have been lenient on this rule that has been in place since Dec 1st, however all jerseys must have permanent affixed #'s for playoffs. We have spoken to representatives from Royal Sports both Pembina Hwy and Raleigh locations, Warrens Corner Sports and ProConnexion Linden Ridge Shopping Ctr. and they will all provide #'s for less than $2 per digit.
